Our client is a top-tier corporate advisory boutique bringing together corporate finance and strategic consulting to provide unconflicted corporate finance advice to telecommunications, media and technology companies. Services include buy- and sell-side M&A, MBO/MBI, debt and equity raising and fairness opinions, especially strong in buy-side advisory transactions with private equity investors.
They have recently affiliated with a very high profile Asian equivalent and would like to cement this relationship by hiring an associate with investment banking experience. An understanding of Indian business culture would be advantageous.
This opening is for an associate to work closely with senior partners in the execution effort, involved in the customary corporate finance tasks; analysis, project management, idea generation, deal structuring, modelling, client meetings, pitches etc.
A caveat to that is that this is effectively a boutique environment and differs fundamentally to larger banks in several ways; more exposure to different, more senior aspects of the deal, more exposure to senior bankers on small deal teams, less bureaucratic, political, a less punishing work regime, more transparency, etc.
Although a TMT specialist Investment Bank, TMT experience isn’t essential, but outstanding academics are. A background in corporate finance or similar would be perfect. The likelihood is that the successful candidate will have spent a lot of time living in England and being immersed in the English media sector, will have an intuitive grasp of the area that can be carried into any media deal.
